Sequel to the publication of the SUN Newspaper on 14th July, 2020, identifying two crime suspects as Veterinary Doctors without due verification, the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA) has deemed it necessary to debunk the report and also advise the general public in that regard.
Remember that the Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN), the only authorized body to register veterinary doctors in Nigeria had earlier confirmed that the names of the culprits have never been registered by the Council and are therefore not Veterinary Doctors.
In a press release dated 21st July, 2020 and signed by Dr Daminabo Gloria, the NVMA National Publicity Secretary, the association showed utmost displeasure at any publication directly identifying the culprits as Veterinary Doctors and appealed to the Government, Security Agencies and the Media to complement her efforts in fighting against quackery in the interest of the consuming public.
The association subsequently advised the general public to beware of impostors who parade themselves as Veterinary Doctors.
Finally, a note of warning was sent to impostors to desist from any form of Veterinary practice so as to avoid the long arm of the law.
